Marion started working with young people at the age of 16 as Youth Counselor for government Summer Day Camp Program. During college she worked as a volunteer for the Child Development Project in Bermuda which was a pilot project to screen two-year-olds for developmental delays and offer early intervention. In 1985 she started teaching in preschool.
Marion completed a five year Bachelor of Child Studies with specialization in Program Development and Administration. A few years later she completed a M Ed through the University of Maryland. Marion has also completed several courses in Learning Styles with Dr. Rita Dunn at PhD Level. For 15 years Marion worked as a teacher in the classroom mostly in Preschool but did do two years as a substitute for all primary years. For the past 13 years Marion has been the principal of a government funded preschool in Bermuda her home. She has presented workshops on various topics ranging from Music and Movement, Art, Parachute Play, Computers in the Classroom, Science and the Mozart effect over the years.
Marion has been working in Early Childhood Education for the past 27 years. She loves the energy and excitement offered at this level. Over the years she has tried many different additional jobs: teaching Early Childhood Education at the local college, been a personal trainer and a beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Ever the entrepreneur she loves the challenge of learning something new. The philosophy of Parents Toolshop® fits nicely with her own about child rearing and parenting. There is a smooth transition of this philosophy into the classroom. Marion believes that positive energy is a must to happy healthy living. Her personal mantra: “The worse they can tell me is No!”
Marion has three wonderful children. The oldest Chalsey, 24, just completed a Masters in forensics and is working in her field in Bermuda. Malachi is 18 and studying international baccalaureate in Tamil India. He is due to graduate in May 2012. Thélise is 10 and currently doing very well in private all girls school in Bermuda. In her spare time Marion loves to cook, bake, entertain friends, garden, read, photography and travel.
As the world has changed, so have the children and parents. Marion is very excited about the programs being offered by Parents Toolshop® and the way these skills can affect relationships as a whole. Marion has always wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children and being a Certified Group Facilitator for the Universal Blueprint® will engage parents in the lives of the children at a much younger age .She knows it will have a positive outcome on both parent, child and relationships in general. “
